In what was one of the most important games of the year for the Dominguez Hills volleyball team, the Toros put up a valiant effort Sept. 28 against No. 7 California Baptist Lancers at the Torodome.
Tati Yandall and Jordan Ramirez were each able to rack up a double-double. Yandall recorded 16 kills, along with 14 digs, for her fifth double-double of the season, while Ramirez recorded 10 assists and 10 defensive saves for her first career double-double.
The Lancers took an intense first match that ended at 25-22. It was in the second match that the Lancers showed why they are ranked No. 7; they won convincingly.
After taking an early 5-3 lead, the Toros were unable to create much offense getting outscored 22-8 the rest of the match and falling two games to none in the series going into the break.
It was the third match when the Toros got the result they were looking for as they won 30-28. In a match that went back and forth, it had four lead changes and ties.
In the fourth match, the Toros were unable to maintain momentum after going up 10-7. They were then outscored 18-6. The Lancers were able to consistently block shots and won the match 25-16.
