The College of Health, Human Services and Nursing hosted its first annual open house Wednesday on the third floor of Welch Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
CHHSN goal was to highlight the various programs the department offers and allow students to meet the faculty and staff. Some of the major clubs involved were child services, human services, health science, clinical science, kinesiology, pre-occupational therapy and pre-health society.
Lisa D. Langford, lead academic advisor for CHHSN, said it took about six to eight weeks to coordinate the event with the collaboration of ETE and EOP.
“For us to do something like this is fantastic,” Langford said. “We wanted to introduce our students to our programs and let them know who we are and where we are. We all came together and made this incredible event that we are so thankful for.”
The open house also offered light refreshments and a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt helped students feel more comfortable in the field as they continue their education at Dominguez Hills.
“I didn’t know all the answers,” Kelly Modregon, human services major said. “But the scavenger hunt was my favorite part because I was able to talk to some clubs and get to know my major a little better.”
