Remember These Important Graduation Dates

The fall semester is just a few weeks old, but some graduating Toros are likely thinking ahead to spring commencement. While graduation season can be an exciting time for many, it is very important for Toros to make sure they’ve met all the requirements.

Students can check their progress on the student portal, under the “academic requirement report”. These steps can help to expedite the process for students applying for graduation this spring.

Depending on the major or whether it is for a bachelor’s or a master’s degree, the requirements will be different. Students should make sure to check with an academic advisor to make sure that their academic requirements are met. Once students complete the minimum 120 units required for a bachelor’s degree, they can apply for graduation by October 1. There is a $90 processing fee that students must pay within 48 hours of submitting their graduation application.

The last day students can apply to graduate for Spring 2024 is December 19, but the Registrar’s office will charge a $15 late fee for applications received after October 1. Students who submit their application but fail to pay within 48 hours are subject to having a hold placed on their account until the amount due is paid in full.

CSUDH’s most recent data shows that the 4-year graduation rate for full-time first-time freshmen is 19.7 percent. The 6-year graduation rate is 46.5 percent. CSUDH aims to increase those rates to 31 percent and 55 percent, respectively.

“I am very excited and looking forward to graduation,” said senior public relations student Rebecca Valiente. “I never thought this day would come.”
