Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) students are being offered a scholarship by the Latino Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA).
Applicants must have a “short letter of application, their unofficial transcript, a letter of recommendation from an instructor or an advisor, a double-spaced, 12 font, one-page personal statement showing need, merit, community service and how the scholarship money will be used,” according to an email sent by the Toro Dreamers Success Center.
Applications were attached to the email.
Students are also required to have at least a 2.5 GPA. While the scholarship is being offered to DACA students, the email sent emphasized that undocumented students are also eligible.
The scholarships are $250, which can cover school expenses for struggling DACA and undocumented students.
The deadline for application packets is 5 p.m. Dec. 8. Applications need to be addressed to the LSFA scholarship committee and submitted to the Department of Modern Languages.
Scholarship recipients will be announced Dec. 12.
Those with questions can stop by the Department of Modern Languages at LaCorte Hall C-310, call (310) 243-3315 or email LSFA@csudh.edu.
