As the Women’s Softball season concluded, votes from coaches throughout the conference rolled in for the California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference awards.
Three sophomore Toros received honors from the conference on May 5.
Jazmin Guzman and Lyzette Reveles each made second-team All-Conference and Damari Simon received honorable mentions.
Guzman, kinesiology major, has appeared in almost every single CSUDH softball game since 2016. As a freshman, Guzman started 40 out of 41 games with 39 being at second base with a season batting average of .303 and an eight game hit streak.
The infielder’s numbers improved in 2017. Guzman led the Toros with a .339 batting average, started all but one game at second base and pulled off 13 multi-hit games.
Reveles, fellow infielder and criminal justice major, also had an impressive year. The infielder started all 53 games the Toros played this season. She led the team in multiple categories including; hits (52), doubles (12), homeruns (6) and RBI’s with 30. Reveles stacked together 15 games with multiple hits and ended the season on a six game hitting streak.
A strong offensive competitor this year was Simon, a child development major. Posting a .322 batting average with 46 hits, eight doubles and three homeruns Simon was a strong asset to the 2017 team.
Simon led the team with 31 walks and 30 runs scored as the teams steady three spot hitter. The outfielder also reeled in 12 games of multi-hit softball including four 3-hit games for the Toros.
The three received All-Conference honors and mentions alongside top players in the CCAA including seven players from the top ranked Cal State Monterey Bay.
