To all my fellow Toros who would get criticized for staying on the couch all day and watching Netflix, our time has arrived. Thanks to streaming platforms, movies are just one click away. Since we are all in lockdown due to COVID-19 and we can’t go out to the movies anymore, here are some of the movies and TV shows that are must-watch.
“Tiger King” (Netflix)
This is a docu-series that you did not know you needed and from the first episode, you will not be able to look away.
It takes us on an exploration of big cat breeding and its bizarre underworld populated by eccentric characters. One of those characters is the tiger king himself Joe Exotic. We follow a man that is larger than life and a one-time owner of a private zoo with over 200 tigers and other big cats.
We are also introduced to his nemesis Carole Baskin whose life mission is to shut down Joe Exotic and other private zoos. This series covers polygamy, drug use, arson, suicide, murder and politics.
“Love is Blind” (Netflix)
Is love really blind? That was the question you asked yourself when watching Netflix’s reality show “Love is Blind,” hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey.
This reality series takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of singles who are trying to find their match and fall in love without ever seeing each other face-to-face, as emotional connection attempts to conquer physical attraction. As a viewer, you follow the couple from their first interaction to their first meeting, ultimately finding out if their emotional connection is strong enough to form a relationship.
To my fellow Disney lovers with Disney+, I found a treasure galore that would make you relive your childhood memories that you would appreciate and enjoy. Be warned you might shed a couple of tears.
“The Hangover” (Netflix)
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right? Finally, Netflix decided to add “The Hangover.” If you want a good laugh and are having Vegas withdrawals, this movie is right for you. It tells the story of four friends who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. This comedy classic will have you laughing from beginning to end.
“Onward” (Disney+)
Pixar’s new movie tells the tale of two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot. The brothers get an opportunity to spend one more day with their late father, but things don’t go exactly as planned. The siblings embark on a momentous quest to make things right. This is a heartwarming story that’s enjoyable for the whole family.
“The Imagineering Story” (Disney+)
“The Imagineering Story,” is a six-episode show that gives an in-depth look at the history and creation of the Walt Disney theme parks around the world. The series follows the work of Imagineers, the people who make dreams a reality by building the wondrous attraction found at Disney parks. You get to see behind the scenes and meet Disney legends that make the impossible possible. If you are a Disney fanatic this show is a must and once those gates open again you will appreciate the parks even more.
