Yes, video games are gaining some mass attraction with everyone in quarantine. These video games have no end as they just continue on, until eventually you are sick and tired of them. These are the top five video games that are trending during the toilet paper apocalypse.
- “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” 2020. Nintendo. Nintendo Switch
At number one comes the most recent video game to hit the shelves at stores. On social media, it has gained major attraction for its recognizable raccoon store clerk. Oh yes, raccoon store clerk, you read that right. The Nintendo Switch game “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” has been an instant hit since its release on March 20 and trending on Twitter for the past couple of days.
This video game is far from your typical first-person shooter. “Animal Crossing” is a game that places your avatar in a small town, where you can theoretically do anything. The part that has drawn in new players was the ability for players to visit other player’s towns. This ability has allowed everyone to communicate with their friends through the quarantine.
- “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” 2019. Infantry Ward. Xbox, Playstation, PC
The number two video game on the list is “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” The game has been out on the market for almost a year, yet the game has been actively adding more in-game content to it. One of the biggest additions to the game was the Warzone feature that was introduced on March 10 as a massive download.
The game of course still follows the same logic as any “Call of Duty” game, except this new game mode is a battle royale game that hosts up to 150 players. The game mode was created off the continued success that “Fortnite” has.

The number three video game that follows “Call of Duty” is of course “Fortnite.” Continuing to dominate the battle royale style of games since 2017, “Fortnite” still lands a spot on the top five. The game is simple to play, you jump out of a flying bus and land on a specific part of the map. Then you spend most of the game collecting weaponry and building materials to prepare yourself for any other players who begin to attack you.
- “League of Legends” 2009. Riot Games. PC
Number four is of course “League of Legends,” as there has been an increase in both viewers of the game and players on gaming streaming service Twitch. Since eSports players are unable to compete at arenas, all competitions have been moved to online competitions to follow the Stay At Home order.
The game is a little more complex than the other games listed on the list. In simple terms, the game is similar to the game of chess, but instead of chess, you have game characters that each have their specific abilities and strengths.

Number five for this list of video games is strangely enough “Minecraft.” The game is just an open world that is made completely from cubes. The game doesn’t have a big objective, it’s just you creating your things such as a house or making some sort of underground water house. There are a ton of things you can do in the game. One time I spent two or three hours trying to explode the whole world I was placed on.
Now, these are the top five trending games to try out since there’s nothing else to do. Just don’t get too upset with Tom Nook in “Animal Crossing”… that fucker is stingy as hell.
