Did you know that not only do 72 percent of students who complete an internship are offered a job by the end of the year? According to the National Association of colleges and employers, 95 percent of employers say that experience is a factor when deciding to hire.
The Career Center is hosting an internship week starting Nov. 2 that will provide the tools and information that aim to lead students to future career success.
Each day is focused on a specific topic. Students are able to attend any and as many events desired.
On Nov. 2 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in Welch Hall Room 360, students can expect to learn strategies on LinkedIn, the No. 1 professional networking tool, including how to make their own profiles.
Also on Nov. 2, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., recruiters from Easterseals Southern California, the Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor and the Child Abuse Prevention Center will be in the Loker Student Union Ballroom to discuss internship and career opportunities.
On Nov. 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Loker Student Union Room 324, the Career Center will provide general information on internships, including what an internship is, how to look for one and tips on preparing to start one.
Do you need tips on having a more successful interview? From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8, skills and techniques will be provided. And from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a representative from the FBI, as well as the Space and Missiles Systems Center, will provide internship and career information.
On Nov. 8, representatives from Hulu will be in LSU Room 324, providing internship and career opportunities, information on what they look for in a candidate and advice on how to market your qualifications. Later that day, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., representatives from Target and Field Fresh Foods will be on hand.
Those interested in the entertainment industry should attend the event held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Twenty Century Fox will provide information on a variety opportunities for internships and careers.
