Stealing the show is Gold Burger, a shack-style burger joint that serves smash burgers and curly fries through a window. This place has been on my radar for months, and it did not disappoint. The Double Goldburger ($10) was consistent throughout every bite and had me wanting another. This place gives the In-N-Out burger effect, I wish I ordered more burgers because I can’t get enough. This place has two locations and is definitely worth the try if you are in Highland Park or Los Feliz. The LA Special burger with pastrami ($14) is worth a try if you are in the mood for two burgers.

4.1/5
This place had me dazed and confused, a nice restaurant with a modern McDonald’s tasting hamburger. Every bite of crisp patty and soft bun of the double burger ($10) brought back nostalgia of eating burgers as a kid. For The Win has an eerie resemblance to a McDonald’s burger and fries, but is a fresh take on a fast food delicacy. From the sauces to the fries, the items have similar flavor profiles to those found on the McDonald’s menu. If you’re looking for a place to have a drink and a burger, For The Win burger is the place to try.

Burger She Wrote 3.7/5
Sometimes all that separates one burger from another is a little push in another direction. The patties on the double cheeseburger at Burger She Wrote are smashed so thin they are falling off the edge of the bun. Its biggest downfall might be the over the edge patty. Consistency is key in every bite of a burger and every bite which lacked bun and sauce were underwhelming. A tasteful patty in the middle but disappointing on the outside. Too many bites of charred unseasoned burger that were not crispy. Let’s cut to the chase, Burger She Wrote located just a few blocks from The Grove, is just that. A nice place with a good vibe and a simple menu. The burger was decent and made with 100 percent American Wagyu beef, but the fries were the best part. Consider spending the 20 bucks, The Grove will happily take your money.
