On March 18, 2022, a new anime film, “Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie” was released in U.S. theaters nationwide. It gained a 98% critic rating and a 98% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it $14.8 million domestically, during its opening weekend.
“Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie” isn’t the first film to have success in the U.S. In fact over the years, anime in-general has been continuing to grow and gain popularity.
To better understand how anime has become such a big genre in the west, the anime club’s vice president, Jackie Adkins, and the club’s social media manager and treasurer, Melina Torres, join in on this discussion. They both share their thoughts on the subject and give personal insight on how they believe anime was able to garner such widespread popularity.
