By Catalina Garcia, Staff Writer
One of the many walking paths at CSUDH that individuals use to walk their dogs, jog or walk. Elizabeth Duffes: “ My dog Tovie and I come two to three times a day. It’s the beauty of the campus! Also, Tovie is a huge fan of the Lady Toro Softball Team. We come to every game!” Ivone Skyers: “It is always nice and you can always find friendly people to talk to on your way through the walking path. I walk here on campus because it makes me feel safe. I have been walking this trail five days a week for over four years.” Shonelle Rozairo: “Doing my morning walks here, I feel very comfortable. I like the environment, and I feel much safer. I’ve been coming here at least four times a week for over one year now.” Tina Verdunanthony: “ I watched this campus be built. We used to ride our bikes up here when it used to be nothing but fields. I’ve grown up here as the university has grown. It just feels very safe here.” Yuki Murata: “My son, Sansiro Murata, is doing his school with the Academy of LA Galaxy and he plays for them as well in the U-15. So every morning my husband and I are here to take our son to school and practice. We bring our dog Maro to give him his exercise for the short days and practice. It feels safe here with the people and the fence. ” Agia Wilson: “I used to go here, I graduated in 2012 and started running here in 2014. I’ve been coming here every day since then for about seven years. I got my dog, Russel, during the quarantine so he is meeting a bunch of other dogs, which allows me to meet a bunch of other people. It’s a nice and quiet area and they have really built the school up since I attended here as a student.” Terresa Ramos: “I walk at the school because it is near my house and I need to for better health. I have been walking two or three miles here five days a week for eleven years. I bring my dog Indio and he has been walking here with me for seven years.” (Left to Right: Justice Hopes, Lisa McCarter, Stephanie Smith, Annette Crawford, Olivia Hunter): “Some of us are Alumni so we are familiar with the campus. But there are a lot of different pathways that we can take. All the paths are covered with a lot of beautiful trees with different colors and flowers. There is security and it’s convenient because we live in the community. ” The walkways bring a ambience that only CSUDH can bring with a lively community and beautiful environment.
